What is the FAFSA?
The government has money you can borrow to go to school. It also has money that they give away for students to go to school. How can you get to this money? Just fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA here.
You will need a lot of details about your parent or guardian's finances. If you can get your parent/guardian's W2 form from last year, it will help you to answer a lot of the questions. A W2 form is a document your employer gives you that tells you how much money you made in a specific year and how much taxes you paid out of your earnings. If you have a job, your employer should give you a W2, too.
Need help filling out the FAFSA? Just click the link below or come to College Goal Sunday, Sunday, February 9th from 1pm-4pm at RCA. You can also come to College Night on Thursday, March 5th from 5:30 - 7:30 where a FAFSA expert will be giving a presentation all about filling out the FAFSA at RCA.
Here is a great website for students to learn more about financial aid, preparing for college, etc. There are also a ton of free resources - you can customize the list by audience, grade level, topic, etc. http://financialaidtoolkit.ed.gov/tk/
